treat yo self

How many times do we hear, it's the little things that count? Even if the phrase seems cliché, time and time again, I find proof that it's true. It has been a really rough few years and after experiencing a lot of loss and turmoil, all I can do is dust myself off, roll out of bed each morning and keep my chin up... and sometimes buying flowers for myself doesn't hurt.

one year later

I was given an orchid plant after my dog passed away last March. I have never been able to get an orchid to re-bloom before... but now, after babying this thing for a year, it's bloomin'.

gilded winter

My friends and I have been talking quite a bit about how we finally like adding bits of brass and gold to our lives. I was once supremely silver-centric. I used to joke that I suffered from aurophobia (fear of gold). I would never look at or consider anything other than silver when it came to jewelry or decor.

I realize I'm a few years behind on the warm metal trend but I really didn't appreciate it until now. The key, for me, is to use brass and gold sparingly.
